I figured it was time to post something new seeing as though the last time was in November. Geesh!
A lot has been happening over the past several months. I have had lots of ups and contrastingly a few downs. I have been trying to really focus on the positive things in life. I find that it gets really easy to focus on the negative things that happen in life. I have kinda been on a quest to look for the good things in life. I have been finding that as I do, I am realizing how good life really is and I recognize more and more of the blessings that I have been given. Anyway, here is a little video that I just finished putting together about "The Good Life". I hope this will be the first in a series of many.

Turkey Trot

I spent this Thanksgiving in Denver with my sister's family. She has made it a bit of a tradition to run the 5k turkey trot where they live. I decided that since I have never run in an organized run/race that I would join here and my brother-in-law. I was pretty proud of myself for doing the race in under my goal time of 32 minutes. I hadn't really been training for the race and just wanted to run for enjoyment (if there is such thing). It was a great Thanksgiving so I figured I would just post a pic from after the race.

Last weekend I was able to take a trip down to Alabama for the Alabama vs LSU game. It was pretty cool to see how different college football is in the south. I went with a big group of people from Jackson Hole, WY and a few of my friends from here in Provo.

The trip was pretty quick and there was a lot of travel time, but being at the game was really something. It was awesome to see how big of an event the game is. Festivities really last all weekend. There were hundreds of thousands of people there tailgating and just hanging out. Tents as far as the eye could see and a hazy mist in the sky from the thousands of grills grillin up some mean food. The stadium was packed an hour before the game to its 95,000 person capacity and there were still thousands of people outside the stadium. The entire stadium was on their feet the entire game. Old and young alike, cheering on the team. I am pretty sure I lost 5% of my hearing due to the lady behind me. How she kept up the scream the entire game is beyond me. The game was close, and when Alabama scored to retake the lead in the 4th quarter the father and his son sitting in front of me were embracing with tears rolling down their cheeks. It was really something. Bama won the game and the the after game festivities began.

All in all it was a great trip and a great experience. It was hard not to be with my Cougars for their win in Wyoming, but I figured I couldn't pass up the chance to see two top ten teams play in the south.

So I helped a friend out with an ad campaign pitch that he was doing for Chrysler. This is the ad that they presented. I thought it turned out kind of funny. I got a good chuckle anyway. Being childless myself, I had to go searching the halls for some parents with a little kid that I could use as a proxy for my child. This kid was a big football fan and all in all was pretty cool. I guess this would mean i married a red head. Anyway, thought I would share it.

Playoff Time!!!

I am sitting here watching the Twins and the Tigers battle it out for the final playoff spot in this years MLB postseason, so I figured it was time for me to sit down and put my predictions out there for this years MLB Playoffs.

October is one of my favorite months of the year. Not because of the changing leaves, the cool crisp air or Halloween, It is the excitement of playoff baseball. As most of you know I am a die-hard Red Sox fan, so I will be the first to admit that my predictions are not free of prejudice. Here we go.

ALDS: One

New York Yankees
vs
Twins or Tigers

Let's be honest, does it really matter which of these teams win this playoff game I am watching. Drawing the Yankees in the first round this year is just bad news. As much as I hate to say it....(Gulp) the Yankees are hot and should have no problem in this series. I am saying Yankees in four.

ALDS: Two

Boston Red Sox
vs
Los Angeles Angels

If History has anything to do with the future, the Red Sox should win this series. There have been many close encounters with the Angels in the postseason, but the Red Sox have always seemed to get the best of them. I am Saying Red Sox in four.

NLDS: One

St. Luis Cardinals
vs
Los Angeles Dogers

I think this is a great matchup. As far as I am concerned, anything could happen in this series. Manny Ramirez has been struggling, but usually has a great postseason, but I think in this case I have to put my money on the Cardinals. Having the one-two punch of Carpenter and Wainwright could be devastating and it never hurts having the best hitter in the league. Cardinals in five.

NLDS: Two

Philadelphia Phillies
vs
Colorado Rockies

I am going to go against the grain on this series and call the Rockies. It is just a gut feeling really. The performance of the Rockies since the All-Star break has been pretty staggering. If they make any sort of a run like they did in the postseason of 2007 then things could get ugly for a lot of people. The Phillies do have a great line-up and will be tough to beat, but I am saying Rockies in five.

Well, there you have it. I guess we will see how things turn out. I will be updating as the playoffs continue. Enjoy playoff baseball my friends!

100th Post

Happy 100th Post to me!

I hate that it took me this long to finally get to my 100th post, but... so it goes. I have vowed to myself that it wont take me as long as it has to get to 100 as it will to add another 100 to that.

Things are going well. The exciting news is that I am moving into a new place today. It is a gold course condo on the 8th hole of Riverside country club in Provo. I am excited to be moving in and hope that it will hold some new adventures for me. The other good news is that I am headed to Dallas this weekend for the BYU vs Oklahoma game. I am still working for the team doing video highlights and other media services and I am really excited about the game this weekend in the new Cowboys stadium. Pictures of the stadium and my new place will be coming shortly.

Lots of other things going on that I will be posting about in the near future.

Balloon Launch | Keeping the Tradition Alive

So it has been a tradition in my family for years and years to go to the hot air balloon launch that takes place here in Provo as part of the Freedom Festival for Independence Day. Last year I remember going with the fam and all of the nieces and nephews and instead of watching, I laid down on the grass and took a nice nap. None-the-less, I went and had a good time keeping the tradition alive.
This year was a little bit different. My folks went to Denver to help my sister move and my older brother and his family were at a family reunion, leaving me and my little brother here for the fourth. Even though I had been up a little late the night before, I woke up at 5:15am on the fourth and walked over to the balloon launch. It wasn't because i particularly enjoy the balloons, although it is kinds cool when they all take off, but it was more so to keep the tradition alive.
Traditions are important and as I have been getting older I have started to realize more and more how important some of my family traditions are to me. Anyway, figured I would share a couple pics for my family that didn't get to come this year.

Day 3 | NYC

We got in to NYC on the bus at 5:30 am and ran on the 15 minutes on and off of sleep that we got on the bus. We went down and ate lunch at the Stardust Cafe. It was a fun little place where the waiters sing and such. it was fun. We walked around and saw a lot of time square and then went over to the village and got some banana pudding from this outrageously good bakery. After that we went down and hit up the south ferry and went across to staton island. Saw old lady liberty and then headed back. We took a walk around battery park and then went up to manhattan to see the temple. It was cool how it was kinda just right there in the middle of everything. We hung out at the chapel for a few minutes and I met up with my old friend Heidi Webster and got to talk to her for a few minutes.
The plan was to see In the Heights. Sadly we didnt get drawn for the loto, so we didnt get in last night. We decided to try again tonight and if we dont win we will just get tickets at the box office. So instead of the show, we saw a few other places and got some dinner and then decided to turn in fairly early because we have a lot on the to do list today and we needed some sleep. Here are a couple of pics from day three.

Boston Day 2 | Red Sox Game

Well, day two in Boston was pretty exciting as well. We were pretty tired from the jam packed day one so we decided to get a little later start. We went down to Fenway Park and went to the official team store. I could have spent a fortune in there, but luckily resisted and am debating on what to get when I head back on Saturday. After leaving the store and Jenni losing her brown cardigan, we caught the T over to Harvard Square and saw a bunch of the Harvard campus and the cool surrounding areas. I wanted to take a walk down to the Cambridge chapel that I went to a lot of meeting and help baptisms at. We walked down the street and to my extreme dismay I found the chapel in burnt shambles. I guess last Sunday there were some electrical problems and the building went up in flames. There were still fire crews and demolition teams there on the scene. Not exactly what I expected to see when I went back there.

We caught some lunch, did a little shopping and then went back to Fenway for the Red Sox game against the Blue Jays. It was a perfect night for a baseball game (Perfect 74 degrees) and the atmosphere of Fenway was pretty much just as I imagined it would be. The most exciting part of the game was the bottom of the 5th inning when the Sox hit four home runs and David Ortiz finally came out of his batting slump and hit his first HR of the season. I knew he was just holding out for me to get there to see it. My first sox game was a truly magical experience.

After the game we went back to the hotel and got our bags. We then got back on the train and headed back for south station to catch our early morning bus to NYC. The bus left at 2:00 am and we arrived here in NYC this morning at about 5:30. I found my friend Cy's place were we will be for the next couple of nights and now here I am updating. That is a pretty condensed version of the day, but alas, that is what you get.

Boston Day 1

Greetings from Boston. I got here late last night and had a day packed full of sight seeing, walking and seeing a bunch of stuff that I never got to do when I was here on my mission. It is kinda cool and strange all at the same time. Going to some different parts of the city that I never got to see have helped me realize that there is a whole other Boston that I never knew. We spent much of the morning on the freedom trail. I never got to do any of that while I was here and since I love history so much it was pretty fascinating for me to hear and see a lot of the historical sights. Interesting how some of the stories that we were told growing up are quite far from how things really shook down in history. I had heard bad things about the USS Constitution stop, but I was really glad that we stopped there and took the guided tour. Very cool stuff. We ate at a great Italian place in little italy on the north end. It was really good. Later we took a walk through the common and the park and then down newbury street. We packed in a lot and had a great day.
Tomorrow is the big Red Sox game at night, and during the day we are going to go across the river into Cambridge and Belmont to see Harvard and some other cool stuff. Ill give you more updates on that tomorrow unless I dont get to update because of our late night travel to NYC.

Well, it is official. After a long road I finally graduated from College. I graduated from BYU with a major in Sociology and a minor in Communications. I even checked my final semester grades to make sure and sure enough...it is the real deal. As I look back on my many years in college I realize that at times it didn't seem like I was making that much progress and that I really wasn't doing much with life. No that I am on this end and have a little bit of time to actually relax and reflect on those years, they were pretty good. Years full of different ups and downs and also years full of accomplishment and a little fun too. I am glad I got to experience so many different things while in college. (Part of the reason it took so long to graduate) but I wouldnt have wanted to do it any other way. Just thought I would share a couple of pictures from the big day to give myself a little pat on the back.

Break Dancers

The other day as I was walking across campus I wondered by a little impromptu break dance throw down. Luckily I had my camera with me and I was able to take a few shots before I hurried off to class. It was pretty cool cause most of the guys were really good and you just wouldnt expect to see a few white guys from BYU breaking it down old school. Thought I would share a few of the pictures.

Friday was Pizza day, the best day of the week

So, the adventures in cooking with the kitchen-aid continue. Recently I decided it was time to do pizza. I made the dough in my kitchen-aid and used my new pizza rounds to cook them on. I ended up making four pizzas and they turned out fantastic. All this talk about pizza is making me hungry. I think another pizza day is in order.

Bobsled World Cup

On Valentines day Logan, Bailee and I decided to take a little jaunty up to Park City to catch the World Cup Bobsledding competition. Since I wasn't in Utah during the Olympics it was really exciting for me to get a little bit of that feel while watching the bobsleds representing different countries fly down the track at 85 MPH. We watched for a couple of hours and were at the bottom of the track when the USA 1 sled took the gold medal. It was really exciting. Although it was a rather cold day, it was well worth making the trip and experiencing the bobsled world cup championships. Here are a couple photos.

Just wanted to post quickly and let you all know the Vegas Bowl is going well. The team practiced Wednesday and Thursday. It snowed all of Wednesday practice and has been uncharacteristically cold for Vegas. I have been having a great time though. I will post more later when I can actually post some of the pictures I have been taking. I am just on a computer in the hospitality room here at the Planet Hollywood Resort. It is a room they set up with games and TVs with xbox and such for players to hang out in. Sadly the only place I can get internet. I'll post after the game.

Nixon Highlight

Earlier this week David Nixon wanted me to put together a little highlight for him to show to some NFL scouts and such. I didn't have a whole lot of time to spend on it with it being the end of the semester and preparation for the Las Vegas Bowl. He liked it and said that he owed me big. I politely told him I would just expect 10% of his first three paychecks when he makes the NFL. I thought I would share what I was able to come up with.

Freeze Fest

Last weekend I went up to the BYU vs USU basketball game at the Energy Solutions Arena. It was a god game and the cougars came out victorious. After we went down to Hard Rock Cafe and I had the most amazing quesadilla. If you are ever at Hard Rock try the Joe Perry "rock your world" quesadilla. I highly recommend it. After that we drove over to a BYU activity that Marky was DJing at. We had a good time making fun of people ice skating and hooking up Logans little sister with guys. Just thought I would share a couple pics.

Kitchen Aid

So I got a new Kitchen Aid. Linens and Things is going out of business so my Aunt, who works there, was able to hook me up with a pretty good deal. I decided it was time to break it in yesterday and so I went with something simple and just did some chocolate chip cookies. They turned out well. I am actually eating one right now. I think I am going to like all of my new adventures with my kitchen aid. More to come.

Band Show

Last week my band played at the trailhead of Y mountain. It was a pretty fun show to play. There were probably about 500 people there having a good time. It was awesome to play at a look out like that because there is nothing like the backdrop of the sunset and the city lights afterward. We played for about a little over an hour. It felt good, as it always does, to get out there and rock a little. Here are a couple pics from the show.

Gavin DeGraw Concert

I heard last week that Gavin DeGraw was coming to town. I decided that since I had to give up my tickets to both John Mayer and Sting and the Police this summer that I needed to go. The show was at a small venue in Murray, so I was a little scared that I would not be able to get tickets. Fourtunatly. I was able to score a couple, so I got me a date and I went. I was not really sure what to expect from Gavin in a live performance setting. I have to say that I was very impressed. He put on a killer show. I had kind of expected him to be a little subdued and pensive. He was none of the above. It was cool to see him go from guitar to piano to just singing. His band was really good and he even had some sweet dance moves. It ended up being one of the better concerts that I have seen in a while and I am really glad that it was in such a intimate venue. Alpine Loop

This last week a few friends and I decided to take a drive around the alpine loop and see some of the changing leaves. It was a nice relaxing drive. Many of the trees have not changed, but some had. I am supposing in another week or two it will be really colorful up there. If you get a chance you should go check it out.

My Incredible Rock Band!

I thought I would share a couple of photos that I finally got from the last gig that my band played. The show was sweet! There were about 5000 people in attendance. We played about 45 minutes. I have never fronted in a band with that many people. Really made me feel like a rock star!

BYU vs UCLA

I don't know how many of you caught the BYU vs UCLA game. It was quite the pleasure to be down on the field for this one. The offense was explosive and the defense looked really solid this week. For those of you who don't know the Cougars beat the Bruins 59-0. Many people had predicted UCLA to win this game. I was really hoping we would blow them out, but I didn't expect to see what I saw. What a game! Here is a picture from the press conference after the game.

BYU vs WU: Seattle

I have been bad about updating my blog. Today I repent and start anew. I have a lot of things to blog about but just have not taken the time.

My first road trip with the team was a pretty good experience. We flew out of Provo airport around 12:30. Naturally my seat was on the last row, but I did have the aisle seat so it is good to know I am not absolute last on the totem pole when we travel. We arrived in Seattle and jumped onto a bus and then traveled to the hotel. It was my second experience with having a police escort. It was fascinating to watch the five or six bike cops weave in and out of the busses while stopping and redirecting traffic. Quite and art!

Friday night I got myself a ticket and went down to Safco field and saw the Mariners square off against the Yankees. I scored a really great seat on the first row of left field. Had it not been a no hitter for 7 2/3 innings of the game it would have been a great seat to catch a home run ball. I sat next to a man that worked at the box office there at the field. He was a nice guy and we had some good chats. He was a Husky alum and was sporting his UW jacket. Of course I was sporting my Cougar blue. It was a fun game and the Yankees lost so who could ask for anything more.

(I have a really great video clip of Andy Pettit pitching I was going to put up for Jared but it won't load. Guess my computer hates the Yankees too.)

Saturday I played my highlight for the team in the hotel and then we took off for the stadium. For those of you who watched the game you know that it was a nail biter. It was really sweet to be in the team box on the field when Jan Jorgensen blocked the PAT at the end of the game. It was a rush. If you follow sports you know mist of the controversy surrounding the game. I wont get into that.

The highlight of the game for me was after the game I was walking out of the locker room and was walking down the hall with a UW lineman. I help a door open for him and he looked at me and said, "Good game coach." All I could do was smile and laugh to myself. I replied, "You too. You played hard." It was just funny, and felt kind of enpowering to be called coach. If he only knew. Hey wait....does that mean I look old?

We flew home after the game and I was home by 8:30 pm Saturday night. It was a great trip.

First Game: BYU vs UNI

I thought I would put up a couple pics from my first game day. Yesterday BYU played UNI for those of you that didn't see the game. It was a really cool feeling to be down on the field and be that close to the action. It was a strange feeling to know I could go wherever I wanted. I walked by event staff and they just opened doors for me. I spent a little time before the game in the locker and got to witness how that whole process goes down. It was really cool.

One of the highlights of the game was when the UNI quarterback got laid out on that first big hit that he took. I was standing about 10 feet from the hit and got a great shot of it. I was so close I could almost feel it...and it hurt.

Every game I get to take someone down on the field with me. This week I took my friend Logan with me seeing as though it is probably the only game he will get to go to this season because of YA practices. Poor sucker!

Anyway, for my first game I felt like it was a success and that I have a little bit of a better idea how everything works now.

YASE 2008

Every summer there is a camp held at BYU called YASE (Young Ambassador Singing Entertainer). I was lucky enough to be a counselor this year for the camp. Kids from all over the world come to attend the week-long camp. There are two different sessions during the month of July. I attended the camp myself back in 2000 and still look back on it as a great influencing week on my life. The experiences and friends that I have connected with from that one week have shaped my life in marvelous ways. It was nice to begin and end my experience with the YA's doing this camp. Once as a participant and once as a counselor. This time around I made some more great friends and was influenced by the participants at the camp in many ways. The spirit was strong at the camp and a good time was had by all. Just wanted to share a couple pics of some of my peeps from camp.

Workin Hard or Hardly Workin?

Just thought I would share a couple of pics from my trip here in Las Vegas before I come home later today and post a bunch of the official photos that I took for the media days down here. The trip has been a good mix of work and play. The guys that I came with are really fun and it has been cool to hang out in the athletics atmosphere for my first time like this. I think I am going to like this job.

We had about an hour in between some interviews so we decided to lounge on one of the many couches by the pool. This resort is a pretty sweet place.

It also happened to be that the Hawaiian Tropic Convention was staying here at the resort with us, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a photo. ha ha.

Football Commercial Shoot

Yesterday I took filmed a behind the scenes segment at the commercial shoot for the new BYU 2008 TV spots. It was a interesting process to be involved in. I got there at the shoot at about 8:30 am to get set up. I shot some interviews with the directors and some of the other staff. Players showed up around 9:30 and we began shooting the commercials. They did two commercials during the day that where based around this years football theme of "The Quest for Perfection" The concepts for the commercials were really cool and watching the crew work with their high-end equipment was really fun. It was also funny to watch the players in their down time as they sat in the tents and ate and played WII. They got pretty into the WII sports and there was a lot of trash talking going on. I will be working on editing my footage this next week and hope to have a finished product by the end of next week.

So this last weekend a couple friends and I decided to take a road trip down to So. Cal and see some other friends that are down there and go to Disneyland. We had many awesome adventures. From rollerblading on the pier, to seeing A Chorus Line, Improv comedy shows, and of course the Magic Kingdom. I just wanted to get up a couple of pics but I will be putting up more when I get them from Megan's camera. We took most the photos with hers.

This was our fourth time in a row on Thunder Mountain. We rode it at the end of the night over and over again till they kicked us out.

This was really cool. Just a bunch of cool lights all together at a museum close to where we were staying.

So I finally had my first experience at The Melting Pot. It was really something else. I will be going back there soon and can't believe it took me this long to discover that gem. The chocolate just blew my mind. If you have a Melting Pot location near you command you to go and at least have dessert and be happy. Back Home, and New Job

I made it back home from Australia late last night. Today I am trying to recoup a little from the jet lag. My trip was a defining experience for me. I was able to meet so many great people and see things that till that point I had only dreamt about. Standing in front of the Sydney Opera House, Seeing Melbourne Park, and feeling like I was at the edge of the earth standing on the top of Mount Wellington in Tasmania. Here a couple more pics from Mount Wellington.

I know look forward to starting my new job with the BYU Football team. I will be managing their website and working on their season highlight films. I don't know a ton about my responsibilities yet because I haven't started and there will be a lot to learn. I just know it is a great opportunity. I will be writing more about it as I learn more. It is good to be back.

So I arrived in Sydney today. We left New Castle this morning and did a fireside here in Sydney tonight. He are headed downtown tomorrow to be turned loose for some much needed free time. I am loving the country down here and especially loving the people. People are just really nice here, that's all there is to it. I am going to try and post some pics tomorrow. I am at a place where I can use my families computer and will try to do that when I have a little more time tomorrow. Till then....I am having a great time and although I am going through some interesting ups and downs...all in all I am having a sweet trip.

Just wanted to write a quick note and let everyone know that I made it to Australia. I love it here. We performed at the gold coast performing arts center tonight to a great crowd and the changes that we made in the show went suprisingly well. I am staying with a great family named the Ubedas. So me and a couple friends got done with finals and decided to be irresponsible and jump in the car to go to St. George and Las Vegas. We spent a little time by the pool and then went to Vegas and got to see a friend in the show La Reve. It was a quick trip because we have to get back to leave for Australia tomorrow afternoon. We are just leaving here and I have a lot to do before we leave in 24 hours.

Last night I got to go to the Colorado Rockies game with my sister and brother-in-law. The Rockies lost, but it was still a lot of fun. I really liked our seats and we sat by some fun people that liked to yell funny things at a player that used to play for the Rockies that now plays for the Diamondbacks. Good times. I got to go to the Jazz game tonight with my dad. It was pretty sweet because I sat on the front row on the floor. At one point I actually had two of the players fall in to me. It was really cool. I could yell at the players and knew they could hear me instead of yelling at the tv screen. I also gave Carlos Boozer a high five, shook it down with the Jazz Dancers and kicked Chris Kaman, of the Clippers, in the back. D-Will had a sweet dunk in the first half that brought the whole stadium out of their seats. I was right there. So close I could hear how stupid the two guys that got dunked on felt. Anyway it was quite the experience rubbing shoulders with the hob-nobbers in the 100 club. I would recommend it.

Tour: Day Three

Today was Sunday and we had a nice chance to relax a little on tour. We went to church with our individual host families and I think the majority of us got to sing in sacrament meeting. Brother Smalley is the bishop in the ward we attended and spoke during our meeting as well. He gave a great talk. After church I got to take a great nap until it was time to eat and go to the fireside. The fireside that we had was well attended and very spiritual. My song went really well and I had a woman come up after the show and tell me a story about how she really needed to hear that song because her husband, who was a local police officer had just been killed and she was having a hard time dealing with that. She said that it was very comforting for both her and her daughter. Her name was Shelley Lamping. I am glad the song was able to help her. I also met another girl who I thought I recognized, turns out I had met her at the KMB during MDT auditions. She was a really sweet girl and said that she planned on traveling around and bringing lots of her friends to our other shows in the area.

Tour: Day Two

So we left Las Vegas early Saturday morning and headed riverside. I stayed with a great family named the Hollers in Vegas. we made it to riverside and saw the theater that we were performing in. It was beautiful. We did an outreach at a local care facility, and I have to say in the three years that I have done the group I think this was the most lively and fun care center outreach that we have ever done. The people were happy and really related to a lot of the music from the first act of our show. As we went to prepare for the show we found out that one of our performers, Ivan has acute bronchitis and wont be able to preform for a few days. As bad as that sucks I was happy to be able to cover his spot in the song "One more Day" by Diamond Rio. It was fun. The show was our best since dejong week and we just had a lot of fun. A good day in all. The connection I am getting is really bad and I can't upload any photos right now, but I will when I get a chance.

Tour: Day One

So we did a show here in Las Vegas at the Cashman center theater. It was a beautiful venue and the show went well. We did a workshop during the day with a local highschool that went really well too. I think we had several kids really interested in YASE camp this summer. Logan and I went home with our host family last night and it turnes out I have just about the best view of the temple and the strip from my bedroom window. We are about 400 yards from the temple and the strip is in the distance. I will try to get a photo that I can put up tomorrow. Until then.

This was a cool picture from a little hole that we found to crawl into that opened up into a a nice little cave that would have been great for weathering a storm. This from the inside looking out.

The house that we are staying at had this really cool old latter truck that used to be used for the Moapa Valley phone company.

We found a great spot overlooking Las Vegas to shoot the sunset. It was really nice and I think the video is going to turn out well too. I guess only time will tell.

Jazz Game

On Monday night Ben and I got to go to the Jazz game against the Miami Heat because I won some tickets off the radio. Our seats were ok, but it was just cool to be there. Ben has always wanted to see Shaq play since we were little so I figured it would be cool to take him. I have really wanted to see Dwayne Wade play too. It was really fun other than the fact that we got stuck paying for the overpriced hot dogs and drinks cause we didnt have time to go somewhere before the game. Anyway, it was a great game and the Jazz won.

I went to California over the Thanksgiving break with some friends. It was probably one of the the more fun trips of my life. I got to go to Disney Land for my birthday. It was magical. I went and saw Enchated, which was enchanting (I am in love with Amy Adams). I got to go see Wicked for the first time and got to meet Eden Espinoza who plays Elphaba. She was amazing. I went to Laguna Beach and got to eat lots of great food and watch the BYU vs Utah football game. All in all it was a great trip. Just thought I would post a few pics.

Bon Fire

This Saturday was our first Saturday with no all day YA practice. I ended up working most of the day with my friend Richard, but that night a bunch of the YA's got together and went up the canyon for a bon fire. We roasted mallows, sausages, and starbursts. Frightmares

Last night I went with my friends Logan, Shayla, and Nikki to Frightmares at the local theme park. It was a bundle of fun and we could not have asked for a more beautiful fall evening to be riding rides, seeing shows, and walking through haunted houses. It was actually the first time that I have been through a haunted house. I am not afraid to admitt that I have always been a little bit of a pansy when it comes to that type of stuff. Turns out it was not nearly as bad as I had always thought it would be. I just don't think I would ever pay money to just go to one of those. One of the highlights of the night was riding the bumper cars and destroying all the little kids in the other cars. Anyway, Any way it was a rockin night great time was had by all.

Sox Win Game One

There wasn't much the Angels could do to get a hit during game one of the ALDS. Boston pitcher Josh Beckett put on a pitching clinic on Wednesday night throwing his second straight postseason shut-out. At one point in the game Beckett retired 19 consecutive batters. The sox scored three of their four runs on home run hits by Kevin Yukelis and David Ortiz. Game two is tomorrow night.

So I am here in Jackson Hole during my last week of the summer. I have been asking myself the question. Am I ready to take on the many "new" things that will be entering my life soon? Do I find myself having the end of summer blues? It is reather interesting to me, but I don't think that the end of any other summer during my 25 years could come soon enough. I am not saying that I have not had a great summer here, I have, It is just that I am ready for a change in pace and a change of routine. I am excited to be moving out again and starting a new show this year with the Young Ambassadors. I feel like after many hard times and set backs that have all had some great inpact and possitive outcomes, that I am ready for some clear waters. My friend Sarah said it really well when she told me that she feels like this is going to be the year of Lane. I agree, I feel like there are so many great things in store for me this year and I am excited to get to them and really try to live my life to the fullest. I am setting new goals and stretching my personality. I am here life! and I am ready for all of the great things that are waiting. In the words of one great James Brown, "HIT ME!, SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!

The weather is just too nice and I have a lot of work right now and for some reason that seems to be more important to me right now. Jacob Luttrell Show Review

I went to a show last night at the velour live music gallery. The show featured Benton Paul and Jacob Luttrell. Out of the dozens of concerts and shows that I have been to this was one of the best I have seen, hands down. The musicallity and presence that Jacob brings to the stage rivals that of any top industry artists at right now. Improvisation and vocal percussion mixed in to his soul-filled rhythms create an atmosphere that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The guy standing next to me had to be in his 50's and he was rockin just as hard as the hottie standing next to me. I could go to one of his shows every night of the week and never get bored. If you get a chance and see that Jacob is playing, don't miss the opportunity to partake of this crazy musical fusion.

Finished the Book!

So I finished reading the book that I talked about in the last entry. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a relaxing, enjoyable read. There is a great little twist at the end of the book that really gets you thinking. This book has helped me have a new outlook on life and the way that I foster my relationships, especially those with my family. Go pick yourself a copy of "For One More Day", It won't let you down.

This is a book that I am currently reading. It is called "for one more day". If you have ever read any of Mitch Albom's books than you know that he is a fabulous story teller. I am really liking this book so far and would reccommend it to anyone who is looking for a good book to read. It is light, easy and enjoyable reading.

Snowbird

On the day after Christmas me and a few of the guys from YA's went up to Snowbird for a night. Peter's parents have a time share at the Cliff Resort, so we were able to stay there and and relax a little. We spent the evening at the spa in the steam room and hot tub. I tell you, if that isn't livin I don't know what is. Later we had a killer round of Balderdash and the drawing game and then retired for the evening listening to Preston and Jared tell hilarious stories. We has a great breakfast in the morning and then headed back down the canyon. It was a lot of fun. A good time was had by all.

Catching Up With Life

Well, the past few weeks have been interesting for me. I have had some exciting things happen, but for the most part I have been running at mach 3 from one thing to another trying to get everything done that I need. I applied and had an interview for the PR progam at BYU. I felt like the interview went really well, so I am hoping for the best. I should find out if I got accepted or not on Friday. Needless to say, my nerves are a little high on that one. I got a new car. It is another VW. I got a Passat this time. It is a really nice car. I will have to post some pics soon. I also got another job working at BYU doing some web work for the school of music. I think that makes about five jobs that I am trying to hold down right now. I have been doing some other design work. For updates on that you can check out www.cloud8media.blogspot.com. I am trying to start and keep a little bit of a record of the things that I am working on.
We are getting down to crunch time in Y.A.s. We have Homecoming Spectacular this week and then start tech practices next week. It will be a miracle if we pull the show together. I am not really looking forward to all the extra practice time with tech week and such, but I guess that is part of the gig.
With everything that has been going on I have felt very overwhelmed and I often times lose desire to do the things that I am supposed to be to keep caught up on everything. Sometimes I just want to yell, and then go to sleep. I have been really negative lately too which is something that I need to change. I have just been losing my patience with people and life. Hopefully things will start to look up. I hope that I can change my attitude and try and focus on the needs of others. Sometimes that is just so hard.

New Car, Not So New Anymore

I was in a pretty bad auto accident on Monday of this week. Lots of families and friends are calling me the miracle man because I got out of the wreck with just some scrapes and about 15 stitches. It happened on I-15 northbound on my way to work. There was a semi tire in the middle of the road and the truck in front of me clipped the tire which caused it to come toward me. It hit the front of my car and caused me to lose control sending me into the right guard rail. I bounced back on to the freeway and was hit by a cement truck in the drivers side of my new VW jetta. I spun across the rest of the freeway and came to rest against the left guard rail. It was pretty scary. I did remain conscious the whole time and was really lucky to have side air bags in my car. I was rushed to the emergency room by an ambulance and a few hours later was released with minor injuries to my left arm and right hand. It is situations like these that cause a person to reevaluate their future. I feel very lucky and blessed to be alive and just remember buckle up and life is good!

Softball, Not Just For The Girls Anymore.

I am glad to report that the RMC softball team finally got it's first win! I have written about the team that I have been playing on before earlier on in the season. At that time I didn't have much good to say about the team. I am now going to stick my foot in my mouth and take back most of the things that I said. We are actually playing like a team now. We are hitting decent and we are much more selective in our throwing while we are fielding. I think that the final score ended up being 15-12. They gave us a little bit of a scare in the last inning, but we were able to hold on and get our first W. It was decided that Lori was the game MVP, for her mad skills catching foul balls and she got two runs. She felt like that was a great accomplishment. I am glad that we met our team goal of at least getting one win. I can't wait till next weeks game.

Bear Lake

I had the opportunity to go to Bear Lake for a couple of days over the long holiday weekend. I had a lot of fun, and just had some time to relax and do some water skiing. A bunch of friends from YA's stopped by on their way to Jackson Hole to see the closing night of a show that my friend Annie has been doing all summer. I had gone to see the show the week before so I stayed in Bear Lake and relaxed. All in all, it was a great Labor Day weekend and I wish that I could have more weekends like that. Sometimes it is nice to get away. Until next time.

Fishing on a Friday

Last night a couple of my friends and I went fishing up to a place called scofield resivoir. I have been fishing a lot the past two weeks and come to find out I am not that great of a fisherman. I say this because I have yet to actually catch a fish. I did get a nasty snag last night that caused the top half of my pole to come detatched from the bottom half and go flying into the water. Luckily Lori was able to go into the water and fish it out with the other half. What a woman! Although I have not had mush luck with the fish, I am finding the sport to be rather relaxing though and have been having a lot of fun spending time in the local canyons with my friends. So far we have only really done shore fishing but we have managed to find a fishing boat and are going to try taking that out next week. Hopfully the fish will be a little more kind to me if I am actually out there on the water. If any of you have been thinking about fishing I would recommend getting online and getting a fishing license. ($26 for a year) You can get started in the sport for really cheap, and it is a nice way to relax and enjoy good old Mother Nature.

SoftBall, Leave it to the Ladies

So I have been playing on a co-ed softball team for the past couple of weeks. Things have not been going real well for us. Softball and baseball are really competive here in Spanish Fork and the team that we put together is just a few of my friends from high school and their wives, so needless to say we have not been real competative these last two games. We lost tonight 17 to 2. Every now and again we have great things happen and it gives me a little hope, but then we make like 15 errors in a row and all of the sudden we are down by ten runs. It's not that I think that we always need to win but I would like to actually not lose by the ten run rule. Hopfully next week things will be a little bit better, but as for now I just say leave the softball playing to the girls.

New Car for Me

So a couple of weeks ago I bought a new car. I guess it is one of those not really new, but new to me deals. I travel a lot to Salt Lake City and the gas mileage in my truck was just killing me. I bought a 2002 VW Jetta. I am really liking it. It is black and has the turbo engine in it. I have been driving it for a couple of weeks now and can believe the difference that it makes in gas. I'll have to take a picture of it and post it, but it might be a good idea for me to wash it first. Between the new car and the scooter I am able to save a lot of money on gas. It will be great when I can get them paid off. I got the car at Jimmies Love Bug in Provo and would recommend them to anyone. It is nice to have a sun roof again and be able to have that nice summer night air blowing through my hair.

I just realized that I had not posted for a while now and I was thinking that I should put up a picture of me with my new scooter. I have had it now for about a month. I have been having a really great time with it. Let's be honest, can you beat 80 miles per gallon? I have been riding it a lot and am glad that every time I pass by Clifford motors on University Ave, I don't have to look over and wish that I had one of those scooters.

On the Road

So I have been on the road for the past couple of weeks with the BYU Young Ambassadors. We are in the middle of a 30-day tour of the mid-west. It has been such a great experience thus far. I just wanted to document a woman that I met at the Masonic Home for the Aged today. There was one lady staying at the home that was making passes at all of the guys in our group. She was pretty funny. At one point she grabbed me and was kissing me all over my face. When it got to that point I had to draw the line. I didn't want to add a 88 year old lady to my make out list. Anyway it was really funny. Here is a pic of me, Ross, Michelle, Kevin, and Spencer at a host families house one night.

Homecoming

So this last week I went to the BYU homecoming game against CSU. It was a fun game. I was glad that I got to go. Mark had a couple of extra tickets and asked if I wanted them. I don't get many opportunities to go to games because of practices and shows so I was glad to go to one. BYU ended up winning the game 24-14. This is a picture of me and Lori at the game.

As you can see from the title his name is Jarrett Burns. He is a singer/songwritter from Georgia. So let it be known, So let it be written that on this day, July 2,2005 the production business project I have been working on called Real Records became an official registered business. We finished up the paper work and paid the dues so we now own the name and are legal.
I am excited to bring it to the next level. There will be a lot of work going on in order to get us to where we want to be and I consieder myself privledged to be a part of that process.

New Computer and stuff

So I am writing my first blogg from my new computer. It is a apple powerbook G4. I am really excited about it. I am having fun learning my way around a mac a little and it is just fun to have something that can actually process information.
This week has been pretty hectic. I have been busy with work, the show, watching my friend Annalece in the Miss Utah Pageant, and djing for dances over at byu. All of this has caused my to get a little sick so i decided to take the day and acually relax a little so that I can be healthy when I leave for Hawaii on tuesday. I will keep my blogg updated with pictures and experiences while I am there.
The final night of Miss Utah is tonight also so I will make an addition to tell how Annalece faired out. until then.........
